  • Adding a new mime-type in Gnome 2.x

Well, if you know me then you know that I always switch from one WM to another after a week max. a month. I always quite liked Gnome 2.x because of its simplicity. I don't need 1000 options in a config dialog. I only need the important ones and the rest somewhere in a config file or as in Gnome's case in some kind of registry. "So, yeah... you like Gnome, then why don't you use it and keep us from reading all this?" Quite simple: Currently the whole filetype handling in Gnome seems to me from only complicated to nearly unusable, because I can't add a new mimetype and bind it to an application if I want to.

After some weeks of playing and searching I've now finally found a ways through the freedesktop.org mime-type definition/handling that is used by Gnome 2.x [more ...]

After some days I've now finally got MozillaFirefox to display Flash content. A big "Thank you" to cappaberra on this occation. • Gamers' log

    Posted on June 15, 2004 at 03:12 +0200 Tagged with , ,

As you might have noticed, there has a new link appeared on this log. A link to the site gamerslog.com. That's a site planned as community site for articles about anything related to games and the games industry. It's not really a site for classic reviews and things like that but more about the writers' experiences and opinions. You could somehow compare it to the gamespotting article series on Gamespot or the Cubism seriens on Insider.ign.com. Everybody can participate if she wants and help others with her experience or inform them about here opinion. Let's see how it works out :-)

I just wanted to say "Thank you" to all the people on the gentoo board that made this great collection of bootsplash tutorials :-) (Esp. to Narada who has started this topic)
