Some of you might have noticed that there were no new articles published here for about 2 weeks ... guess what?! I finally went on some vacation, this time to Denmark. In the next couple of days I will try to upload more or less all of my photos of this nice journey at flickr and also write a small article about this whole trip :)

Vacation photos
As already mentioned in the previous post I've just recently returned from a 16-days trip to Denmark and Germany. A time which I also used to make tons of photos which I'm not in the process of uploading to Flickr. Since weekends are short and weekdays busy I have not even managed to upload at least the first half of the photos. On this occassion I want to apologize to the flickr servers and staff for uploading around 400 photos in 3 days ;)

ELive
Seems like each and every app now once again needs its own live cd :) Now its Enlightenment's turn with Elive. IMO given the quite complex installation procedure for the cvs snapshots it's really a nice idea to make a live cd for E* :) Ok, it still doesn't beat compiling and installing Gnome from scratch but anyway ;) Based on Morphix it comes with E16 and E17 so that you can also compare the present and future of the Enlightenment project. If I hadn't E17 already installed on my system I'd probably try it using a Live CD ... if I had any CDRs left ...

Back to online RSS readers
Don't ask me how, but Liferea is crashing my Gentoo ;) Ok, I'm fairly sure that it's now Liferea itself but somehow everytime I start it the screen goes black and the system is gone. My best guess is that it has something to do with my graphic card but I'm not really sure since it normally works just fine.

PocketMod.com
Since everyone seems to be obligated to write about it and now even Michael Arrington on TechCrunch: Here also my 5cent (european ones). What is it? Basically a pocketmod is nothing more than a folded piece of paper with designated pages. This piece of paper can be filled with 8 fields (8 pages) for example for contact information, todo lists and so on using a nice Flash application. When you're done with your pocket book simply hit the print button and start folding and cutting it.

my.opera.com relaunching today
Opera is about to launch a new version of their community portal my.opera.com. After the redesign of the main site a few month ago I was really wondering when this would happen :) Also the screenshot that was leaked on operawatch really looks promising.

ROFL
Someone of Opera Software is really funny. For the last couple of hours there was a countdown for the release of the new community site.... now, after it reached 0 , it was replaced with a message saying, that it will launch at 1200CEST... very funny.

my.opera relaunched
At 1200CEST Opera Software finally launched the new version of their community portal my.opera.com which comes with a fresh new look and some nice new features. Since I can't compare it to the old version I will simply list some features that caught my eye:

Textpattern 4.0.1
A few weeks after releasing Txp 4.0 to the world the Textpattern developers have published the first bugfix release of 4.0, 4.0.1. Besides fixing many small bugs it also closes a security hole, so updating is highly recommended by the devs.

RSS Readers overview status report
As I've written in a previous post I'm currently working on a small overview of RSS readers similiar to the weblog software available on unblogbar.com. I want to officially announce it when I've reached 10 readers in the list (otherwise it simply looks way to empty for my taste ;) ). Currently following readers are in my list
