Since I still consider the simplicity of Delicious' interface far superior to what Ma.gnolia has to offer, I at least wanted to keep both more or less synchronized. So I wrote once again a little script that adds all those bookmarks I made on Ma.gnolia during my absence from Delicious ... with the expected problems. -
Python Magazine #1
For the last two days I wanted to write about it ... but I actually wanted to wait until I had finished reading it. Thanks to quite a lot of other stuff (OK, probably mostly Halo 3) it takes longer than I had anticipated, so I will just write about it after being only halfway through.

Amazon's S3 getting more interesting
... and now according to Jeff Barr even an SLA, which should be something for all those people who thought about using S3 for mission critical storage but were turned down by the lack of some kind of clear statement regarding the reliability of the service.

Jaiku acquired by Google
Now this is strange. I would have expected Nokia to buy them, but Google? Perhaps Twitter was not for sale, although I also didn't notice that Jaiku was. Anyway, it seems like this is one of those acquisitions where the buyer more or less locks the site down to integrate it completely into its own infrastructure (Writely anyone?).

Zune not to compete with iPod ... Huh?
According to German news site heise.de, Microsoft won't compete against Apple with their Zune media player in Germany because of the local market which is dominated by sub-100EUR players.

distutils and prefixes
I've tried to get around the whole distutils vs. setuptools issue ever since I started working with Python, but setuptools might have a big advantage on its list when it comes to distributing "complete" applications where I faced some problems with distutils recently.
