  • Focusing on reading instead of reviewing ...

First of all, sorry that there haven't been any reviews for the last 22 days, but I've been more busy with reading books and doing stuff for work and university than writing about books ;) So at least you can now look forward (if you want to that is ;) ) to reviews of "Daeadalus" and "Daedalus's children" by Dave Stern as well as "Missing in Action" by Peter David. If I find the time I will perhaps also write a short review of the first book of the Deep Space Nine Millennium series which I'm currently re-reading (because it took Amazon too long to deliver the third book of the "Worlds of Star Trek Deep Space Nine" series ;)).

  • Round 3: Final Preparations

Posted on Feb. 28, 2006 at 01:46 +0100 Tagged with

A few days ago I've finished the 2nd book of the previous round ("Worlds of Deep Space Nine: Cardassia and Andor"), which you can expect getting reviewed somewhen today or at least this week. I'm also somewhere around finishing the first third of the last book ("Daedalus") so I thought it would be time for doing the final preparations for the 3rd round of books in 2006.

The books you can expect getting reviewed in March will be

    • "Daedalus' Children" by Dave Stern
    • "Worlds of Star Trek Deep Space Nine: Trill and Bajor"
    • "Worlds of Star Trek Deep Space Nine: The Dominion and Ferenginar"

  • Preparing for the next round

Damn, now I'm just half-way through the 2nd book of my previous order and now I already basically know, which books will make it into the next round:

    • Peter David's "Missing in Action" (Star Trek: New Frontier)
    • John Scalzi's "Old Man's War"

Yes, another non-StarTrek book. Today Cory Doctorow post something about Scalzi's new novel "The Ghost Brigades" on BoingBoing. Since I've never heard of that author before, I went to check out Cory's post his previous book "Old Man's War" and found it quite interesting, esp. since Cory describes it as

  • Again new books on the horizon...

    Posted on Feb. 9, 2006 at 11:28 +0100 Tagged with , , ,

There are once again some new books on the horizon for me :)

    • "Daedalus" by Dave Stern
    • "Worlds of Star Trek Deep Space Nine: Cardassia and Andor"
    • "The Forever War" by Joe Haldeman

The last one in this list is actually something completely new for me. Normally I don't just look into a genre and take a book that got good reviews, but here I go. I also don't want to bore you only Star Trek books ;) This was also the book that took me the longest to put into my shopping cart since I couldn't decide whether or not I should get the german translation since this would have been 3 or 4 EUR cheaper. But just a few days ago I thought about this whole "getting translations" thing and decided for myself, that I would only then buy a translation of a book, if I simply see now chance of understanding it with or without a dictionary ... which actually means, that I will try to get books written by English, French or German authors in the original versions.
