  • I <3 Opera's accesskey handling

    I really like to browse the web using the keyboard only, esp. when I'm working not at home and on my laptop notebook. For these occassions accesskeys have always made my life much easier.

  • Opera 9.10

    Opera Software just released version 9.10 of their Qt-based browser suite. The major new feature in this release seems to be some kind of fraud detection system which appears to make an assynchronous check of the URL of a website against a central blacklist and shows a big red icon when you visit a page that is known to be for example a phishing pond.

  • Using external Feed readers with Opera9

    For people who prefer using their own feed readers instead of the one bundled with Opera9 here a small hint that should get this going:

    The idea is quite simple: Change the protocol of all the feeds linked in a HTML page from "http" to "feed". Then you need some way to show you the links to the feeds. Then simply bind your application to the "feed://" protocol in Opera using Preferences » Extended » Programs.

  • Opera9 released

    Today Opera Software released version 9 of their webbrowser. This version comes with an integrated Bittorrent client, ad blocker and site specific preferences (et al.). The browser has a new rendering engine that also passes the ACID2 test.

  • What's in my cache?

    While playing a little bit around with JavaScript I noticed something quite funny: If you want to know, what your browser has cached (at least what Opera8 or Firefox have cached ;-) ) simply enter "opera:cache" for Opera8 or "about:cache" in your browser's address bar.
