Ever since I first heard the term "Photoblog" I always considered it a cool idea but definitely more something for other people ... basically those that get out more, have a life and whatnot. A couple of days ago I stumbled thanks to schokodinatorin upon Project365, a group on Flickr that has as a goal that you upload one picture every day to document your life. Naturally this is totally option, but I kind of like the idea of having one photo for each day of a year.

Some Flickr alternatives
Every once in a while it's good to take a look what alternatives to a service you use and like very much. So given the current Microsoft/Yahoo-dicussions, I thought it was once again time to look at some of the "alternative" photo communities out there: Smugmug, Zooomr, 23hq,
Fotocommunity and ipernity. I didn't really try most of these services but just looked at their feature-set to see if they offered what I need. Also don't expect a complete comparison off these sites here, since this would probably easily fill a 20 pages article. I just want to point out a few things I've noticed. So let's get started.

Scattered Images
A few hours ago, Heather Champ of Flickr made this post on the official Flickr blog and introduced me to something that I absolutely want to give a try: Scattered Images. That's basically a single image composed of tons of other images (all of the same object or scene) but thanks to different weather, light conditions or camera settings it looks like a mosaik (or in some cases as if seen through a crystal). On the left side you can see my own first attempt with this (sorry, had nothing better within reach right now :P).
For some examples, check out Rob Birze's astonishing collection.

I <3 Lightroom
For the last couple of days I've been playing around with Adobe's Lightroom. Probably because of my lack of talent nearly all my photos have only a quite low contrast and dull-looking colors and for thing like that LR seems to be great. With just a few clicks you can improve a photo from being "meh" to "not that bad" :-) Just an example:
