  • Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

I love Ratchet & Clank. I really do. So far I've played every single game of the franchise (except for Secret Agent Clank and the new PSN title Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty) and absolutely loved every single one of them. The first installment of the franchise on the Playstation 3, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is no exception there ... at least for the most part.

  • 2 days of PS3 Trophies and Counting

    Posted on July 12, 2008 at 00:08 +0200 Tagged with , , ,

For the last 2 days I've now been hard at work getting some of the achievements trophies which are now available in some PS3 games since the last firmware update. And since the only game I have that supports trophies, I've been playing tons of Super Stardust HD again :D After getting the first 2 for finishing the first 2 levels, I noticed that for most of the trophies you have to get the expansion pack which costs 3.99 EUR. Since I wanted to get it anyway, that's not a big deal for me, but I still think its weird and a bad idea, to be honest, to make only about half of the trophies for the core game.

  • Playstation3 Firmware Mess

    Posted on July 5, 2008 at 14:40 +0200 Tagged with , , , ,

You sometimes really have to wonder, what Sony is doing. For the better part of the last 3 years gamers have been whining about the Playstation 3 not offering any kind of Achievements. Then they announced so-called "Trophies" about a month ago for the upcoming firmware 2.40 release just so that you know that all your current games appear not to support any Trophies (except for Super Stardust HD).

  • Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

    Posted on April 12, 2008 at 23:38 +0200 Tagged with , , ,

The first time I saw the trailer for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune I wasn't overly excited about getting my hands on this game. Sure, it looked great, but just a little bit too much like Tomb Raider but with a dude (so back to Indiana Jones). Then when some folks over at 1UP got a change to play it, they described the main character as your normal dude who also acts like that. No über-hero, but someone you often get the feeling that he is scared, that he has a problem keeping his balance on a pole etc.

  • Resistance: Fall of Man

    Posted on March 29, 2008 at 15:53 +0100 Tagged with , , ,

I have to admit it: I'm an Insomniac fanboy. I played every single Ratchet & Clank game (except the PS3 one) and loved them. So when I first learned about Resistance: Fall of Man it was clear to me, that I eventually had to have it. Now that I finally have a PS3, Resistance was the first game (not bundled with the system) that I got.

  • PlayStation 3 ... and no time left

    Posted on March 23, 2008 at 00:10 +0100 Tagged with ,

DSC_5602.jpgFor the last year or so I've been more often than not looking over at the PlayStation 3 and though: "Damn, they have some really nice games over there". Back then the PS3 had a couple of problems for me. First The price. Paying 600 EUR for a console without a game packed in was simply not an option for me. And second: The AV-outputs. With my Xbox 360 I have the nice option to just hook it up to my 19" computer display and get nice 1280x1024. With the PS3 I'd have to go the HDMI or component route to get some HD and I neither have a new TV with HDMI or component, nor do I have an expensive enough computer display to support HDMI not to mention HDMI + HDCP. And spending around 800EUR to get any of these, was and still is not an option either.

  • Tony Hawk offline at Playstation3 launch

    Posted on Sept. 18, 2006 at 23:11 +0200 Tagged with , , , , ,

Is it just me or is Sony really preparing a big disaster for their PS3 launch in Japan and the USA this November? Today GamesIndustry.biz and Eurogamer reported (quoting IGN), that the PS3 version of Tony Hawk's Project 8 (which is slated as a launch title for the blue diode sucker) will not include an online component because they still haven't received all required libs and no details about the online components of the PS3. I guess, who wants to do some Skateboard magic online will have to do this on Xbox Live then.

  • Lessons learnt yesterday

    Posted on Sept. 7, 2006 at 23:15 +0200 Tagged with , , , , , , ,

    1. If you pay lots of money for a gun in a game, better use it. For the last year or so I was avoiding finishing Ratchet & Clank for the PS2, because I always died in the last stage and got reset to somewhere right after the start. A few months before that happened for the first time, I played it quite a lot to get these 1.000.000 credits to get the super weapon in that game: The R.I.D.A. ... just to never use it. Yesterday I used it for the first time, and finally finished the game. Hurrayyy. Next.
    2. Trust Apple to surprise you. Well. To make a long story short: I love the new Core2Duo iMacs ;-) The specs look really great and I can't wait to get some money to get myself one of them for my birthday in 2 months ;)
