  • Playstation3 Firmware Mess

    Posted on July 5, 2008 at 14:40 +0200 Tagged with , , , ,

You sometimes really have to wonder, what Sony is doing. For the better part of the last 3 years gamers have been whining about the Playstation 3 not offering any kind of Achievements. Then they announced so-called "Trophies" about a month ago for the upcoming firmware 2.40 release just so that you know that all your current games appear not to support any Trophies (except for Super Stardust HD).

  • PLAYSTATION Store gets new design

    Posted on March 31, 2008 at 20:40 +0200 Tagged with , , , ,

Sweet, Sony announced today, that a total redesign of the PSN Store interface will see the light of your PS3 this April (at least if you are in Europe) as reported earlier today by Kotaku.

And the store definitely needs it. I'm not really a big fan of the Xbox Live Marketplace either, but the current PLAYSTATION Store layout is just downright bad. For instance, if you access the "Games" category, you get a listing of sub-categories ... in chunks of 5 or so. The selection of a game when you've finally found your category is similarly complicated. Let's just hope, that the new design will make everything better.

Although I still don't understand, how a rollout can take 2 weeks ...

  • @Sony Customer Support: Reading mails is hard ...

    Posted on Nov. 27, 2007 at 14:35 +0100 Tagged with , ,

Remember when I wrote a couple of days ago about the PSP Store being Windows-only? I was actually mad enough to contact Sony's customer support on this issue asking if there were any plans to offer a MacOSX-client.

  • Tony Hawk offline at Playstation3 launch

    Posted on Sept. 18, 2006 at 23:11 +0200 Tagged with , , , , ,

Is it just me or is Sony really preparing a big disaster for their PS3 launch in Japan and the USA this November? Today GamesIndustry.biz and Eurogamer reported (quoting IGN), that the PS3 version of Tony Hawk's Project 8 (which is slated as a launch title for the blue diode sucker) will not include an online component because they still haven't received all required libs and no details about the online components of the PS3. I guess, who wants to do some Skateboard magic online will have to do this on Xbox Live then.

  • Lessons learnt yesterday

    Posted on Sept. 7, 2006 at 23:15 +0200 Tagged with , , , , , , ,

    1. If you pay lots of money for a gun in a game, better use it. For the last year or so I was avoiding finishing Ratchet & Clank for the PS2, because I always died in the last stage and got reset to somewhere right after the start. A few months before that happened for the first time, I played it quite a lot to get these 1.000.000 credits to get the super weapon in that game: The R.I.D.A. ... just to never use it. Yesterday I used it for the first time, and finally finished the game. Hurrayyy. Next.
    2. Trust Apple to surprise you. Well. To make a long story short: I love the new Core2Duo iMacs ;-) The specs look really great and I can't wait to get some money to get myself one of them for my birthday in 2 months ;)

  • PSP finally got Platinum

    Posted on July 22, 2006 at 08:50 +0200 Tagged with , , ,

Sony released the PSP in Europe last September and since then many gamers moaned quite a bit about the quite high price for games compared to home console or PC games. Well, the price for new games hasn't dropped or something like that, but according to Austrian retailer Gameware.at there seems to be now at least also a Platinum series for PSP games :D

    • F1 2005 Grand Prix Platinum
    • Medievil Resurrection Platinum
    • Pursuit Force Platinum
    • Ridge Racer Platinum
    • WipEout Pure Platinum
    • WRC - World Rally Championship Platinum
    gameware.at

Well, so basically the launch lineup. At least now I can finally buy Ridge Racer and not have a bad feeling about it ;)
