  • Disabling Trackback

    Posted on Oct. 10, 2006 at 12:44 +0200 Tagged with , , , , ,

Just a small note: I've just disable trackback for now (and probably for some time) because I'm simply not motivated to moderate the about 200 spam posts I get every single day. As a replacement I will add hopefully sometime this week a small section where all the links pointing to a post or the whole site will be listed (based on search results on Technorati and probably also google and yahoo).

  • Technorati's getting back to you ...

    Posted on Oct. 6, 2006 at 23:59 +0200 Tagged with , ,

Something new from the Technorati front. This time there is a new newsletter called the "Technorati Buzz Monitor" which appears like a lightweight version of the Rojo newsletter on the news side but it also offers some hints on how to use Technorati. Nice. A little minimal on the news side, but nice :-)

The other new "feature" of Technorati is a (week-) daily video show presenting some of the hot topics of the day in a humorous way. Nothing new, but nice :-)

So to some things up: Nice

Just one small request about the video show: Could you please provide an RSS with the show as QuickTime or something like that?

  • Technorati's link cosmos on your site

    Posted on July 31, 2006 at 14:03 +0200 Tagged with , , ,

Natalie Jost has a nice post about how to track who else is linking to your blog but also a question: "How to get this information out of Technorati?" The answer is a little bit more techie than it should have to be, but anyway:

Technorati is offering an API for getting exactly this kind of information out of it. What do you need for that?

    1. An account on Technorati
    2. An API key which you can get here

The last thing you need is a script that actually uses this API. How should it work? That absolutely depends on what you want. I personally prefer a small script that polls that data let's say once per day and stores the output inside of a PHP file that I could then simply integrate in whatever CMS I'm currently using.

  • Vox's Question of the day

    Posted on July 25, 2006 at 21:27 +0200 Tagged with , , , , ,

I think last Wednesday while being on a train to Villach I listened to episode 28 of "Inside the Net" with Amber MacArthur were she and Leo Laporte interviewed Mena Trott of Six Apart. I think the main focus of the whole podcast was Six Apart's new entry level service Vox which's aim is to offer everyone a simple yet nice and powerful blogging platform.

During that interview, Mena or Amber mentioned the "Question of the day". From what I've understood the team behind Vox everyday comes up with a question to all its members to somehow provide a reason to blog everyday. Actually a really nice idea which is in my opinion way better than the flood of memes that were flying around the last couple of months.

  • Technorati turns 3 and gets updated

    Posted on July 24, 2006 at 16:28 +0200 Tagged with , , ,

How long did the last theme hold? Doesn't matter, Technorati now has a new look and also in most areas a new feel. This might also be thanks to some speed improvements. Celebrating the birthday of a project with a major update is always a good thing and I want to congratulate Dave Sifry and the team over there to Technorati. Without it, the blogosphere would be more less connected ;)

One of the last problems I still have with Technorati is, that somehow my blog is not correctly indexed and the pinging was not reliable during the last couple of days. For example one of my recent posts Say "Hello" to neighbours again is still on indexed although according to Technorati my site was updated 15hours ago.
