    WordPress is now available in version 2.0.3 fixing some bugs and with some tuning under the hood. The update also includes some security related backports from the 2.1 branch.

  • Ruby 1.8.2 on Ubuntu 5.04

    Since yesterday there is a new version of Ruby On Rails available: 0.13.1. It seems like this version has introduced a version-check on Ruby which makes it hard to get Rails installed on Ubuntu 5.04. The problem here is, that Hoary uses a pre-release of Ruby 1.8.2 as base which was made 2 days before the final release.

  • Official BitTorrent 4.0.x on Ubuntu

  • Ubuntu > Laptop

    Now I've finally come to the point where I don't want to stress my poor laptop with having to compile everything so I've removed Gentoo from it and installed Ubuntu tonight. This doesn't mean that I don't like Gentoo anymore or something like that. I still use it on my server and it's still my first choice if I have high performant hardware at my disposal.

  • XFS -> Ext3?

    First I wanted to give XFS a try simply because I've so far only heard good things about it. Fast, stable, many tools. Well, right on the 2nd day the system froze and I had to xfs_repair the whole root partition. Bad luck, I thought.

  • Ubuntu category

    I've now also added an Ubuntu category simply because I'm currently very interested in this new Debian/Gnome based distributions and have also installed it on my laptop. I'll perhaps write quite a few posts about it, so this will should keep my weblog tidy :-)

  • New to Ubuntu

    In the last days I played around with the thought of giving Ubuntu a try on my laptop (Acer TM803). Why? Reiser4 (not tweaked) doesn't worked out as I had anticipated on this machine so I wanted to reformated my main partition again and I also wanted to work with a binary distribution once again after about 1.5 years of Gentoo ;-)
