  • Twittering too

    Posted on March 21, 2007 at 00:09 +0100 Tagged with ,

Recently I've seen quite a few posts out there with people describing for what purposes Twitter could be used.

So for the last couple of days I'm not giving Twitter a try. But not as a replacement for blogging (as some people have indicated Twitter in general to be) but more as a supplement for small statements about recent events or things that I've just experienced. This is something I don't want to post on my main weblog so I guess Twitter might be really a nice place for this, esp. things that are posted on it are normally not something you'd consider a classic weblog post anyway :-)

  • Gravatar back from hiberation

Nice! Seems like Gravatar is back from hibernation with a new look and feel and in good old Web 2.0 style a public beta with everything that is part of it (like the not-existing help) ;-)

  • First impressions: Stikkit

    Posted on Jan. 19, 2007 at 10:31 +0100 Tagged with ,

The idea behind __Stikkit__ is actually brilliant: A simple PIM and planning tool using text parsing to set variables (like deadlines, affected contacts etc.). Just a short example:

Let's do a small meeting today

    share with Horst

This would create a new event for "today" and inform "Horst" about it by parsing your input on-the-fly using JavaScript, a process called marked with "Thinking...". This way you can also create todo elements, contacts and so on.

  • Flickr adds real photo sharing

    Posted on Nov. 21, 2006 at 09:15 +0100 Tagged with ,

Seems like Flickr has added some new features. One of them is a way to share also private photos with other people who are not necessarily members of Flickr and therefor can't be added to your friendslist etc.

The whole beast is URL based, so whoever gets this URL has access to these private photos. But this isn't really a problem IMO since you can always expire those so-called "Guest Passes".

This feature could really come in handy for me every time there is some family party and people want to get the photos I made but are too lazy to register and account on Flickr ;-)

  • Writely send invitations and Google Analytics goes public

    Posted on Aug. 17, 2006 at 10:25 +0200 Tagged with , , ,

Seems like a big release day for Google. First they announced, that Google Analytics is now open to the public (so no invitation required anymore) and this morning I then receive a mail from Writely saying, that I can now finally get an account there :D Writely still seems to be invite only, but at least it appears that they are finally giving them out again ;-)

I guess I will now finally give Google Analytics a try and see how it hold up against Performancing Metrics. I still think it's strange, though, that Google has set some limitations for the free Analytics accounts ...

  • YouREP.com - A first look

    Posted on Aug. 8, 2006 at 22:09 +0200 Tagged with , , , , ,

Florian Cervenka from yourep.com contacted me a couple of days ago and informed me about his new Flickr alternative. Since it is still in Alpha state or just getting Beta, it's really hard to compare it to long standing sites like Flickr or 23, so ... I simply will try not to compare them at all but but instead state what I like so far about yourep.com and what I don't like (sorry Florian, but you asked for that ;)).

Note: These comments are made after just browsing the page as a guest, so what I'm writing here might be incorrect. The time has come for me to stop registering at every Web2.0 app that might be interesting ;) I simply grew tired of scanning each TOS and privacy guidelines for the world "soul".
