Surprised by The Running Man

Whenever I come across a movie that might be interesting and that is not included in any subscription yet, I consider just getting it as Bluray. And sometimes I pick another movie just because it sounds interesting. That just happened last week with The Running Man. I had never seen the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie nor read the book, although I had wanted to.

Turns out, that movie was great! I expected something that could play in the background and entertain me while I was doing something else entirely. Glen Powell is also not my favorite actor (probably not his fault) but together with Josh Brolin they made good enemies in this near-future setting.

The story of the man-hunt was a bit deeper and interesting than I had expected, though. The whole universe felt shockingly plausible and somehow reminded me of the world of Escape From L.A. of all things.

The hunt itself could have been a bit more elaborate for my taste and some scenes felt weird (like plot holes) to me, but I probably just need a rewatch. Something that the movie definitely deserves πŸ˜
