  • Unity (Part 2)

Yesterday night I finished "Unity" and it was great At least for me nearly every mystery of the original tv-series was cleared up, but now new ones are there to be solved. Also who Wex is is cleared up which was at least for me quite a suprise.

The seconds half of the book offers more action but also more psychology. IMO it is a very good mix so my statement from Part1 stays: Buy it ;-)

    Again one table removed ;-)

    1080 Avalanche

If you've bought the game and are not really motivated to play it at least to the final challenge of the Expert-Races: Do it. The final challenge is alone worth nearly 20? of what you paid for the game :-)

  • S.D. Perry's "Unity" (Part 1)

    Posted on Nov. 29, 2003 at 09:07 +0100 Tagged with , ,

First of all: This will probably only interest StarTrek-fans as this weblog entry will be around S.D. Perry's latest addition to the DeepSpaceNine universe.

With some months of delay "Unity" finally was released a few weeks ago and I got it as soon as possible. It marks the latest book of the post-TV-series timeline of DS9 and is therefor esp. interesting if you know at least the 6th and 7th season of DS9.

I won't give a spoiler here, so everyone interested in buying this book can be sure that s/he won't miss anything after reading this and then the book :-P

I'm now somewhere around the middle of the book and it's nothing but thrilling :-) If you've read the last book of the series you'll probably know what will happen in this book ;-) Chaos, mysteries and again a lot about the religious and political situation on Bajor. But I have the impression that the situation at hand within the Federation is the focus of the first half of the book. Some aspects of the threat are cleared up, esp. some historical ones and you get to know more about the Trill and their way or un-way of interacting with other species :-P You'll also notice some strange new couples ;-) so everyone that is on the edge of buying or not-buying this book: Buy it. It's quite expensive (and only available hardcovered :-( ) but it's definitely worth the money :-)

  • SSX3 vs. 1080 Avalanche

    Posted on Nov. 28, 2003 at 06:34 +0100 Tagged with , ,

First of all: I'm new to snowboard games so please don't expect any comparitions with games prior to those two ;-)

I played SSX3 on the PS2 now for about 2 weeks and got the new 1080 for the NGC today. First I was quite impressed by the intro of 1080 but not less by the one of SSX.

Then I played my first few races in 1080 and somehow there is something missing... Ok, the first races aren't that hard to win, but a small training possibility would have been nice. Sure, you can explore every track in the TimeAttack mode, but it still doesn't give you the same feeling as getting down from the top of the peek to the first station in SSX3. Somehow the whole thing doesn't really feel right that way. You start immediately with the race. No going to the shop (ok, you can select one out of 3 boards (where two are locked) for every boarder, but there seems to be no shop or something like that to simply buy some hats or something) , no going to the starting point of the race. The whole game at least after the first few hours of playing gives me just the feeling of hopping from one event to enough but with nothing in between. There also seems to be no dj/moderator while going down the track. Would have been fun IMO :-) Ok, there is also none during the races in SSX3, but as there is one between that races, something is simply missing for me :-)
