  • OmniGraffle 5.0 released

    Posted on March 6, 2008 at 08:15 +0100 Tagged with , , ,

Sweet, yesterday night, right before I actually wanted to get some sleep, the OmniGroup released version 5.0 of their great diagram tool OmniGraffle. Back when they first announced the first beta, they said this:

As for pricing, any OmniGraffle 4 purchases made on or after October 31 will receive a free upgrade to OmniGraffle 5 when it ships in early 2008.

    OmniGroup

So I tried right away to run OmniGraffle 5.0 with my old license key (which I bought on 11/19/2007) just to get a nice error message telling me, that the key only works for OmniGraffle 4.x. I emailed sales right away ... And also got an answer right away :-) According to the friendly person at the other end of the tubes, OmniGroup would start sending out update licenses later that day.

  • Some software infrastructure changes

    Posted on June 28, 2007 at 02:05 +0200 Tagged with , , , , , , ,

After quite some time (and probably right before I have to send my Powerbook in for some repairs) I decided I wanted to have something new again, so I first of all thought that my current software management for things like Gimp, Python and Ruby is a complete mess.

  • Finally some news about Cookbook

    Posted on Jan. 19, 2007 at 23:46 +0100 Tagged with , , ,

After quite some time Austin Sarner and Michael Yuan finally posted some updates on the development progress of Cookbook again. For those of you who've missed the MyDreamApp contest last year: Cookbook is ... well, a digital version of a cookbook with a slick MacOSX GUI and some nifty extra features Whatever the Wii is doing in Mockup 3 :-?

  • OmniOutliner: The ultimate notepad for lectures

    Posted on Oct. 8, 2006 at 22:52 +0200 Tagged with , , ,

I [heart] OmniOutliner OmniOutliner is more and more becoming one of my favorite tools on the Mac besides TextMate. Yesterday I used it more or less for the first time to take some notes in a course. Normally I would simply fire up TextMate and do all the notes in Markdown using headings and item lists. But since the presentation was very fast adding the "*"s and "###"s etc. proved to be way to slow for this. So I gave __OnmiOutliner__ a try and was finally able to keep up with the lecturer :)

  • Preparing plugins for WP2.0

    Posted on Dec. 26, 2005 at 22:50 +0100 Tagged with , , ,

With the release of WordPress 2.0 being imminent (at least that's how it looks like to me ;) ) I started to check all the plugins I'm using here a few days ago to make sure, that they all work with the new major release. After 2 days now I have only one plugin left: Eric Meyer's wp-gatekeeper, which I should have finished soon. So far only Jerome's keywords plugin required some debugging and updating (which took me quite some time though). Now I just hope, that WordPress 2.0 will be released soon :D Just too bad, that the RTE doesn't work with Safari :(

  • Liferea 1.0

    Posted on Dec. 25, 2005 at 18:20 +0100 Tagged with , ,

I just want to congratulate everyone involved with the development of Liferea for daring to take the big 1.0 step :) I've been using Liferea for the last year more or less exclusively (perhaps with a small sidetrip to Rojo or Bloglines) and it it's really still the only real option for me when it comes to RSS/Atom-reading on Linux.

  • Categories vs. Tags in Wordpress

    Posted on Dec. 22, 2005 at 21:25 +0100 Tagged with , ,

No, I won't really go down the road of comparing these two organisational ideas in general since other people with more knownledge in this area have probably done this already to the degree where it's no longer funny. Instead I simply won't to write a little bit of my own experience with blogging using Tags instead of Categories.
