Earlier this year I noticed that my Crumpler and Timbuk2 bags were finally starting to fall apart. I had recently rediscovered my good old Chrome Buran messenger but it was simply too heavy and large for what I had in mind. While browsing the current Chrome Industries catalog I stumbled upon the Kadet Max 15L Sling and I knew I’d have to buy this one!
It has exactly the right size for all the things I usually carry with me: A 13" notebook, tablet, a notebook, and a small bag for some cables and documents. Besides the padded laptop/tablet compartment there are also some smaller pockets for wallet, pens, etc.. At the front there is one larger pocket with a zipper with the usual keyring. After all these years I’m still not sure who actually puts anything valuable in a front pocket π
One feature I had completely missed at first is a pair of straps at the bottom of the bag which fit perfectly for carrying a raincoat or a bike helmet.
So, after 6 months the rose-colored glasses are off and I still really like this bag a lot. It’s not has sturdy as the Buran but lightweight. The only real downside for me is that the bag isn’t weather proof. It will survive some light rain but for anything beyond that, you should have some extra protection (I often have a dry-bag with me for just that).
Over the years I've written quite a few reviews π You can find them at /reviews/.
