Since tonight Newsvine has no finally left the private beta status. Congratulations to the whole team over there and thanks for offering in my opinion the best community news site out there. Let's just hope that they survive the flood of new users and will hopefully not degenerate to a playground for kiddies ;)

Worlds of Star Trek Deep Space Nine: Cardassia and Andor
Read more about "Worlds of Star Trek Deep Space Nine: Cardassia and Andor" ...
All the "Worlds of Star Trek Deep Space Nine" books consist of two stories around one planet each. The first story of this book takes place on Cardassia where Chief Miles O'Brien and his family are trying to make a new home and helping the Cardassian people. During this story the reader also meets some other familiar faces like Garak and the former Gul Macet. Nice story but in my opinion nothing really special. Especially the ending somehow simply was too quick.

Finally got Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
Finally. Finally I made to probably the only local store, that is still (or once again) having "Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time" for the Nintendo DS, and I can tell you one thing: Waiting for 3 weeks to get my hands on a game that had been released like 2 months ago totally sucks. I even started playing AC!D through for the 2nd time and continued SSX On Tour just to not feel the waiting too much ... and I can't stand the mountain of SOT anymore.

Digg.com with new commenting system
Digg.com seems to have received yet another update. This time the commenting feature got a little face-lifting meaning you know longer have to enter a CAPTCHA-like code with every comment and you get 175 seconds after posting a comment to editing it. You can now also block the comments of specific users and vote on each comment. The whole voting thing also comes with a filter you can specify helping you getting rid of comments that fall under a certain threshold. The default is: You see everything that got a level of 0 and higher. And yes, this also more or less already indicates this: You can down-vote comments ;) Looks like a really solid update.

Python.org re-designed
Today I wanted to check the python documentation for some things to improve my little Technorati Cosmos script ... and fell nearly from my chair: Python.org in new and nice :D Just too bad that it's not valid HTML though. Also the transition seems to be quite far from complete. So has the whole documentation still the old layout and basically any deeper part of the site... well, I just hope, that they will also update the documentation style ;)

Analyzing Ma.gnolia bookmarks
Just to let you know, why I'm currently posting so little: I'm still playing "Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time" as if there was nothing else out there to do and I also got "Street Fighter Alpha3 MAX" for the PSP today. So there's not much time to do anything else ;)

Ma.gnolia integrates groups in bookmarklet
The new social bookmarking service Ma.gnolia has enhanced their primary bookmarklet with a new field. Now you can finally add a bookmark right away to one of the groups you're a member of without having to save the bookmark first to your own collection and then copying it over to the group. With this new addition Ma.gnolia could get even more interesting for people who want to use a social bookmarking service but also want to be able to cooperate with a specific group of people to build a bookmark collection.

Searching for combined tags in ma.gnolia
If you've used del.icio.us you probably know that you can search for example for items that have tag "a" and tag "b" by simply combining them with a "+". For example http://del.icio.us/zerok/book+webdesign would give you a listing of all items that I've tagged with both tags.

Executable check in Rubygem ...
Sometimes I think I don't learn anything from my mistakes. Everytime I write a new rubygem, at first my executable doesn't do anything no matter what commandline parameter I set etc. The reason is quite simple: Since I do a lot of Python scripting to basically every executable looks like this for me:
