LocoRoco Demo for your PSP
Today I finally updated my PSP to version 2.71 for basically just one reason: I wanted to give the LocoRoco demo a try. Well, no comment as always about the stupid process of updating with a 70% full battery ;) But the demo is at least quite entertaining :) After some minutes I finally noticed that rotating the world while in the air actually makes a difference g Now all I have to find out is if the demo level actually has an exit.

XML-RPC for Textpattern
Good things can take some time. Now Textpattern also has an XML-RPC interface implementing the BloggerAPI and the metaWeblogAPI completely and the MovableType API partially. According to the documentation of the MovableType API implementation it even supports the keywords field :)

Nick+Viva in Telekabel

Adding fonts to OpenOffice.org 2.0 on MacOSX
You would love to use OpenOffice2.0 but the native NeoOffice is too slow and the X11 app has too ugly fonts for your taste? Well, at least for the latter there is a small workaround :) All that is needed are some additional TTFs. Since OpenOffice.org 2.0.app uses the same foundations as the Linux versions, more or less the same tricks also apply on MacOSX.

Sometimes expire fields in cookies just suck
If you can read this, I just made my first blog post using my little commandline tool for blogging ;) But I can tell you, writing this was just a pain. Ok, not at first where I could rely on normal XMLRPC APIs like the metaWeblog API. But then I wanted to create new categories on the fly and this is exactly what none of the available APIs for WordPress seems to be able to do. The quite obvious solution for this is simply do a POST call on the wp-login.php to receive the cookies for an admin and then continue with creating categories this way.

9cays: A small review
For the last month some collegues and I were using Pete Yandell's great 9cays service. It allows everyone to create a small and more or less private mailing list. The new thing about that is, that at its heart there is an HTML page where everyone who knows the URL can see the whole conversation and also download all the attachments posted to this "list". Done run away screaming "privacy" though: The URL is randomized, so it's probably as enjoyable as password cracking to get the URL of a specific list.

PowerPC optimized Firefox builds

Being a browser jumper it normally only takes a really small reason for switching browsers again after having used one for some time without any problems. So it happened somewhen last week, that I once again went from Firefox to Safari. And the reason? Performance.

Samsung SyncMaster 940B

Today I finally bought my first TFT monitor after thinking about it for the better part of the last 5 years ;) It's not a high-end device, but for what I need the 940B is probably just right. It has a native resolution of 1280x1024 and supports things like a pivot mode ... not that I need something like that for coding, but it came with the ability to change its height (which was a requirement for me).

Google launches PicasaWeb
Google yesterday launched PicasaWeb, basically a web frontend for Picasa. But are they really after Flickr? Well, judging from how you have to upload your photos there, I somehow doubt that. As far as I've seen on their website you have to use Picasa to upload photos, an application that is only available for Windows.
