  • Charmed DVD releases messed up

Ok, I think this is the moment when I have to say: "I don't understand the world anymore." Today I wanted to see, what season of the Charmed TV-show are

  • NewsFire's sidebar look in NetNewsWire

A small hint for those of you out there, that are using NetNewsWire but actually like NewsFire's way of clustering "special subscriptions" like those based on filters, flagged items etc. on top of the subscriptions sidebar.

  • Updates 2006.07.15

    • The work on my move from WordPress to Drupal is proceeding quite well. I think I have now most of the modules I need to first of all more or less clone the current zerokspot with Drupal. The convertor already imports users, posts and comments. Next on my list are trackbacks/pingbacks and custom fields that will be imported as custom node types.

  • Powered by Drupal

First of all: Welcome to the new old zeroKspot.com :D

What's new about it? This site is now running Drupal for reasons I will perhaps write a little bit more about in the next couple of days when I've also moved the posts from my booksblog over and re-established full feedburner support.

For the time being, there should be absolutely no changes requires on your site of the web. All the old links are (and will stay) valid, same goes for the feed links, images and other uploads.

Because of the not yet complete transition of all my content into Drupal I also want to apologize for "bumped" feed items.

  • Why the move to Drupal?

First of all: I didn't move away from WordPress because I think it is a bad system. In fact IMO WordPress is an excellent tool for people who want to have a simple way to publish posts. But think about following situation: From time to time I want to write a product review, for example about a book. How would you do something like that in WordPress? By using the custom fields. One for the author and one for the isbn as well as one for the rating itself. In Drupal you can do the same thing in a fast and easy and a slow and quite custom way: flexinode or by writing your own module for let's say a bookreview. Such a module could then also offer you a custom form for writing book reviews. Don't get me wrong: This is possible with WordPress, too, as plugins like StructuredBlogging have shown, but IMO it's quite hacky.

  • PSP finally got Platinum

Sony released the PSP in Europe last September and since then many gamers moaned quite a bit about the quite high price for games compared to home console or PC games. Well, the price for new games hasn't dropped or something like that, but according to Austrian retailer Gameware.at there seems to be now at least also a Platinum series for PSP games :D

    • F1 2005 Grand Prix Platinum
    • Medievil Resurrection Platinum
    • Pursuit Force Platinum
    • Ridge Racer Platinum
    • WipEout Pure Platinum
    • WRC - World Rally Championship Platinum
    gameware.at

Well, so basically the launch lineup. At least now I can finally buy Ridge Racer and not have a bad feeling about it ;)

  • What's still missing

While watching "Ghost Ship" yesterday I was at least able to fix my small problem with Drupal's search module, which should now finally work :) So now to the plans for the next couple of days:

    • Today I ported all the book reviews from my booksblog, so only the blog posts over there are still missing.
    • The return of my friends list which will be using del.icio.us this time since I'm not really motivated to write a links module (or even look for one) for Drupal and del.icio.us has all of my bookmarks anyway-
    • CoComment integration. There has to be a way

  • Kumite on the go with Tekken: Dark Resurrection

I was just watching The 1up Show from last week and they said something that made me really consider "Tekken: Dark Resurrection" for the PSP: It has a mode comparable to the Kumite mode in Virtua Fighter 4. For those of you who don't know this mode: Think about it as a basically endless sequence of challenges were you fight against opponents of various skill levels and you can also increase your own skill level to earn the right to fight against better and better opponents.

Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution probably maxed it out by putting this whole idea into some kind of simulation of various arcades within a city. First your fight a few rounds against the players there, earn a higher kyu/dan grade on your way up and finally fight everyone again in a small arcade tournament to earn the right to go to other arcades out there. If I remember correctly there might have been something similiar in Tekken 5 for the PS2, but a mode like this would even be more useful on the go.

  • S5 is no longer a one-man show

Eric Meyer's web standards based presentation system S5 seems to be about to move out into its own project home with s5project.org, set up by Ryan King. The aim seems to be to offer all S5 users a community platform for sharing information and customizations.

And for those of you that don't know S5 yet, think about it as PowerPoint in your web browser using XHTML, JavaScript and CSS.

For more details about what is going on with S5 and what is planed for the near future, check out the announcement by Ryan King :)

Hmm.... that somehow reminds me that I was actually working on an "Alternatives to PowerPoint" article when I wrote a paper a month or so ago ...
